Last night I went to an outdoor concert at Smoky Mountain Harley in Maryville. If you haven't been there, folks, it's a real treat. At least, it is to me. They have a smokehouse, which produces some mighty fine barbecue and the music is equally good in the fine tradition of southern country or southern rock. You can't go wrong with that mixture. I saw an old fave in mine, Leon Russell. And for those of you who aren't familiar with Leon, check him out on YouTube. Of course, he's not the young whippersnapper he was back in the day when he jumped on top of grand pianos, screamed like a screech owl, and wore a top hat like a country gentleman. No, he's old, slow and calm. But when he sits down at that grand piano, magic still happens. He is truly, to reference one of his songs, "Master of Space and Time."
One of the main reasons I like to go hear him whenever I get the chance is not only does he allow me to feel like a 17 year old hippie again, but I get to witness something quite wonderful...an outstanding musician who has honed his craft to the point of unbelievable skill and all I have to do is listen...
Hope you all have had a great weekend! God bless!
