New Computer Day

This past weekend, I went to Staples and purchased a new Surface Pro 4 with Windows 10...let me just say right here and now that I do not oppose technology.  I actually like it...but I have been dragged kicking and screaming away from Windows 7 into the mysterious world of Windows 10.

I do not consider myself a stupid woman, but when I turned the blasted thing on, it took me forever to figure out where the cord plugged in.  Then, I had to figure out the different ports...there are only two, but they look different on this thin little thing as opposed to my dinosaur laptop that I am still emotionally involved with...don't judge me...

The worst thing, though, was trying to figure out the Internet.  I never knew there was a difference between the web and the browser.  Well, I know it now after an hour of trying to figure out how to increase the size of my internet page...I am ashamed to admit that I had to send out a distress signal on FB to get some help.  Thankfully, one of my FB friends, Tina, knew exactly what to do and had me up and going in a jiffy.

I am not a fan of change, and I really see no need for a new version of Windows to present itself like a preening peacock every year for me to feel compelled to upgrade (well, obviously, I didn't feel too compelled...having resisted the call of the upgrade through various other Windows versions).  However, change has finally forced itself on me with the addition of a new tablet/laptop in the form of the Surface Pro 4.  I must say, one thing I do actually like is the size and weight of that little miniature data box.  Its compact, jazzy, and detachable. And as I typed those words, I realized I could have been describing myself...

I am sitting in my office now, waiting for the Help Desk to call me to get this little beauty set up to service my clients, which is a rather lengthy process.  Technology isn't easy...but when it works for us, it can be a superfine thing...

Have a great afternoon, computer folks who are laughing at this right now...and friends and clients who are shaking their heads at my ineptitude...God bless!
